Included with General Admission.

Get to know the spectacular cinema of the Korean Wave in this special Free First Sunday talk by film programmer and educator Hannah Baek. Through a curated selection of clips (including numerous fan favorites featured in Hallyu! The Korean Wave) and a close look at acclaimed director Park Chan-wook’s 2016 film “The Handmaiden,” Baek offers insight into Korean cinema’s appeal to contemporary audiences, examining the bold challenges it poses to conventions of time, nation, and gender.

Presented alongside Hallyu! (on view through Jan. 6), this event includes light refreshments and a traditional Korean knot (maedeup) crafting activity.
