Artist Talk with Ins Choi of “Kim’s Convenience”

Join Ins Choi, creator of the play and hit Netflix series Kim’s Convenience, in conversation with Pam MacKinnon, Artistic Director for American Conservatory Theater. Choi describes Kim’s Convenience  as his “love letter to his parents and to all first-generation immigrants who call Canada their home”; the Toronto Star calls it “a timeless, beautiful, and heartfelt ode to the immigrant experience.” 

Seating is limited and first-come, first-served. 

Doors open at 5:45 PM. Ticketholder entry is only guaranteed until 5:55 PM. Any unclaimed spots will be released to guests in the rush line. If you do not have a ticket, please enter the rush line starting at 5 PM in Bowes Court. Rush guests will be given access to the performance if space becomes available.

  About the Artist

  Ins Choi was born in Korea; he grew up and currently lives in Toronto, Canada with his wife and two children. His debut play, Kim’s Convenience, won the Best New Play Award and the Patron’s Pick at the 2011 Toronto Fringe festival. It then toured across Canada, and was adapted into a TV series of the same name on CBC and Netflix for five seasons. Choi was a writer, executive producer, and co-creator of the TV series. His other plays include Subway Stations of the Cross, Bad Parent, Son of a Preacherman. He taught screenwriting at the National Screen Institute and the Canadian Film Centre and offers his writing workshop from time to time.
