Virtual Workshop: Pattern Recognition with Jenifer Wofford

Saturday, Apr 17, 9:30 AM–12 PM
Recommended for Teachers of Middle School Through College
Members: $5, Non-Members: $10

Learn about the impact of Asian American women artists from the Bay Area, past and present, in this virtual workshop featuring guest artist Jenifer K Wofford. Wofford, a Filipina American artist and educator based in San Francisco, will talk about her mural Pattern Recognition, the first commission for the museum’s new Lawrence and Gorretti Lui Hyde Street Art Wall. Inspired by traditional Asian decorative motifs and bold, colorful graphics of the 1980s, Pattern Recognition celebrates Asian American artists and immigrant communities. We’ll also share activities and resources that you can use to engage students with this artwork as well as with the Asian American women artists highlighted in Wofford’s mural.
