Goddesses are central figures in many Asian religions. From fertile earth maidens to nurturing mothers, wrathful avengers, and wise advisors, female deities play important roles in the lives of their supplicants and followers. Drawing upon examples from the museum’s world-class collection, this lecture explores the many depictions of goddesses throughout Asia.
