Captivating in their simplicity, the ink paintings Six Persimmons and Chestnuts have rarely been publicly exhibited. Painted in China and attributed to the 13th-century monk Muqi, they have been treasured for centuries at Daitokuji Ryokoin Zen temple in Kyoto, Japan; this is their first showing in the United States. The Heart of Zen offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience these venerated paintings in person, as well as providing a rare glimpse into the world of a Japanese Zen temple.
