The Heart of Zen Member Morning
Patron, Jade Circle, and Nexus members are invited to experience The Heart of Zen an hour before the galleries open to the public on closing day, Dec. 31.
Captivating in their simplicity, the ink paintings Six Persimmons and Chestnuts have rarely been publicly exhibited. Painted in China and attributed to the 13th-century monk Muqi, they have been treasured for centuries at Daitokuji Ryokoin Zen temple in Kyoto, Japan; this is their first showing in the United States. The Heart of Zen offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience these venerated paintings in person, as well as providing a rare glimpse into the world of a Japanese Zen temple.
