The patterned textiles called bojagi and their artful wrapping techniques have been a highly visible part of Korean culture for centuries, with some decorative motifs and wrapping methods originating in the nation’s royal palace. Traditionally used to cover, protect, and adorn gifts, the versatility of bojagi finds a wide range of applications throughout Korean life, from transporting everyday items like food or laundry to the preservation of the most precious Buddhist relics.
