About the exhibition:

New Japanese Clay showcases 32 pieces by 29 contemporary Japanese artist, most created within the last 20 years, many of which have never been displayed publicly before. Rooted in mingei (folk art) and building upon Japan’s long history of pottery and ceramic arts, these works are anything but traditional. From seemingly impossible silhouettes to otherworldly forms, these objects showcases the dynamic approaches to the medium of clay.
