Meet the Curator: Roobina Karode on Memento

A conversation about the exhibition Memento and contemporary art in India
Join Roobina Karode, director and chief curator of the Kiran Nadar Museum in New Delhi, and Abby Chen, head of contemporary art at the Asian Art Museum, for a conversation about the exhibition Memento: Jayashree Chakravarty and Lam Tung Pang. They will discuss Personal Space (2001), Chakravarty’s work on view, and its sister piece in the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA). The KNMA is the first private museum of modern and contemporary art in India.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Roobina Karode has been the director and chief curator at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) in New Delhi, India, since 2010. In 2016, she was the recipient of the India Today Best Curator award of the year. In 2019, she was the curator for the Indian Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale. Steering a rigorous program at KNMA, Karode is focused on partnering with other institutions to consolidate the global presence and relevance of contemporary Indian art.
