Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience Premiere with Ensemble Mik Nawooj
Ensemble Mik Nawooj’s Hip-Hop Orchestra samples from across classical genres, sharing original music in an underground party setting like the New York scene that birthed hip-hop.
Ensemble Mik Nawooj’s Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience is part concert, dance party, and club night featuring original music that samples from classical and hip-hop—all presented in an underground setting like the New York scene that birthed hip-hop. Join us for the world premiere of “Parangsae” (Blue Bird), a piece based on the Korean folk tune of the same title. This performance follows a successful August 2022 debut at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which EMN presented in collaboration with Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The program includes seminal works of Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, deconstructed and reimagined with funky rhythms and rapid-fire rhymes. These compositions were commissioned by the Asian Art Museum and Yerba Buena Gardens Festival.
