Ensemble Mik Nawooj: A Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience
For its 10th anniversary season, the Bay Area–based hip-hop orchestra Ensemble Mik Nawooj takes on — and deconstructs — iconic classical repertoires. Works by Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart will be transformed into masterpieces of Metamusic (a genre which goes beyond genres) featuring a 22-piece orchestra (realized by overdubs) and two Turf dancers. You won’t want to miss this exciting night of many cultures and generations coming together to celebrate true diversity and future-building. This will also be the release party for Ensemble Mik Nawooj’s new album and premier of five music films documenting the recording session of the album, as well as dance footage filmed at the Asian Art Museum and various other Bay Area locales.
Copresented with Yerba Buena Garden Festival.
