Dream State: Works In Progress
The next wave of emerging AAPI creatives reimagines broken dreams as a source of limitless potential.
Recognized as one of the Asian Art Museum’s most outstanding programs of 2024, Dream State returns this year as a centerpiece of AAPI heritage month. At last year’s event, the Dream State artist collective explored the question: How do dreams shape and change across generations? This time around, they’re digging deeper, asking: What do we do when a dream begins to fall apart?

About the Artists
-
Dream State is a grassroot impact project led by third-culture kids in partnership with the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and Edge on the Square. Originating from a 2024 program at the Asian Art Museum, this project is dedicated to building and protecting spaces where it is safe to dream. In an era marked by a mental health crisis, and the erasure of marginalized voices, Dream State creates art and development programs that connect people and encourage personal expansion. We reclaim the perspectives belonging to no single land—once seen as weaknesses— and transform creatives into leaders with irreplaceable insight.
