Dream State: Awakening Visions
Walk through the ruins of a dream — and into a new one — with the next wave of emerging AAPI creatives.
Recognized as one of the Asian Art Museum’s most outstanding programs of 2024, Dream State returns this year as a centerpiece of AAPI heritage month. At last year’s event, the Dream State artist collective explored the question: How do dreams shape and change across generations? This time around, they’re digging deeper, asking: What do we do when a dream begins to fall apart?
Step into the immersive Dream Village to converse with creatives, share your unfulfilled dreams in the dream confessional, and take in films, sculpture, and 2D artworks created by rising POC artists. Dream State welcomes all to an inclusive space for healing, inspiration, and empowerment. This experience is your chance to connect with local AAPI artists who are pushing back on the model minority myth and celebrating imperfection as a source of freedom.
Programs are included with museum general admission ticket on Saturday, May 31 and free on Sunday, June 1.
