Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment
Wake up! Open your eyes, clear your head and leave this fractured world behind. Embark on a transformational journey, guided by dozens of inspirational Himalayan Buddhist artworks. Prayer wheels and ritual weapons accompany you as you encounter fierce guardians, the god of death, and wrathful deities on your path to enlightenment.
Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment is organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The presentation at the Asian Art Museum is made possible with the generous support of The Bernard Osher Foundation, Joan L. Danforth, Walter Jared Frost and David Salman, and Lucy Sun and Warren Felson.
Sustained support generously provided by the Akiko Yamazaki and Jerry Yang Endowment Fund for Exhibitions.
Free admission on the first Sunday of every month is made possible by Kaiser Permanente First Free Sundays.
