Sharing Our Truths Through the Power of Comics with Rina Ayuyang

A hands-on workshop about how comics can be a powerful artistic medium for healing, sharing our stories, documenting history, celebrating our culture, and empowering the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

  Rina Ayuyang is a cartoonist and writer who has been a part of the vibrant Bay Area indie comics scene for over 20 years. Her stories explore identity, family, and community history. Rina’s critically acclaimed graphic novel, The Man in The McIntosh Suit, is a Filipino–American take on Depression-era noir featuring mistaken identities, speakeasies, and lost love in San Francisco’s Manilatown. It was named one of the Best Books of 2023 by the New York Public Library (NYPL). Rina also has contributed to Marvel Comics, Mutha Magazine, PEN America, and The Comics Journal.  

This program is free with museum general admission. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
