Recognizing the need to stay engaged and inspired while maintaining social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis, the Asian Art Museum is shifting its programs to online platforms. While the museum is closed, we are hosting a range of virtual public programs to both connect with our audiences and support the work of our artistic and creative communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made many of us wonder how we can live in a world of volatility, complexity, and ambiguity. The Asian Art Museum is pleased to present Zen Buddhist priest Rev. Takafumi Kawakami live from the Shunkoin Temple in Kyoto, Japan, to lead us in a practice of self-cultivation.

The practice of self-cultivation, which begins with meditation, helps us create more flexible ways of looking at the world. Removing our biases and looking at the way the world is now will give us more resilience in this time of change and uncertainty.

Rev. Takafumi Kawakami is the deputy head priest at Shunkoin Temple in Kyoto, Japan, and travels the world giving talks about the Zen Buddhism, well-being, and self-cultivation (meditation and contemplation).

We will send you the Zoom login with confirmation email.
